The speaking object

In this series of works, Kazanxhiu creates large drawings on brown paper objects that belong to his grandparents. These drawings express the need for a missing museum, a museum that would—some day in the future—preserve Romani art and culture. The artist draws these objects as a way of fixing them in time and memory, gradually creating parts of this future museum.

It often happens that ideas or objects from our everyday lives become suddenly important to the discourse of our times.  It is very important that we have a reference point to debate, to express an
opinion. Speaking without such a shared reference point means merely talking into the air.
In these cases, an object turns into something deeply significant. At first, we simply regard objects as things that give us pleasure, through their curious nature or their function in our lives. As we become familiar with our relationship with these objects, they become integral parts of everyday of your life. Suddenly, these objects create a strong connection between our emotions, our ideas, and our sense of history, creating a nostalgic feeling for that which is close to our hearts and familiar to us.
