Kazanxhiu’s research deals primarily with the condition of being a Romani [RI1] Albanian artist, digging into the roots of his own identity and fighting for Roma to be part of decision-making processes. Through his artwork, he aims to provoke and challenge traditional perceptions about the Romani people in Albania and elsewhere. Kazanxhiu’s practice constitutes an in-depth exploration of the paradoxes in art and in politics that are produced in his country, and across Europe, by histories of marginalization and social divisions. He draws inspiration from subjects that are close to him, or stories arising from his everyday life. Kazanxhiu uses art as his own most powerful language to produce different forms of discussion and debate bout political, cultural, social, and historical issues.
